On October 1, 1974, in Tokyo, he beat Venezuelan Betulio Gonz√°lez by majority decision and obtained the World Boxing Council flyweight title. On May 18, 1980, in Seoul, he knocked out Korean Chan-Hee Park in nine rounds and won the WBC flyweight title.

Lost His Title
In his first defense on January 8, 1975, in Miyagi, Japan, Mexican Miguel Canto won it by majority decision. The second time he lost his flyweight title was in the third defense on May 12, 1981, the Mexican Antonio Avelar knocked him out in seven rounds.

On November 11, 1982, in Shizuoka, Japan, Jiro Watanabe knocked him out in 12 rounds, when he challenged him for the WBA super flyweight title.
