On June 3, 2007, in Cebu, Philippines, he defeated Lobert Bayo by unanimous decision in four rounds.

Won The World Title
On December 19, 2009, in Managua, Nicaragua, he knocked out César Canchila in 11 rounds and became interim light flyweight champion of the International Boxing Federation. On February 10, 2012, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he regained the interim IBF light flyweight title, defeating Luis Alberto Lazarte by technical knockout in ten rounds. On May 25, 2016 at Diamond Court, Beijing, China, he defeated the local Amnat Ruenroeng by effective knockout in four rounds and obtained the IBF flyweight title. On April 20, 2019, he knocked out Ricardo Espinoza Franco, in Carson, California and won the interim WBO bantamweight title.

Lost His Title
He relinquished the interim IBF light flyweight title, without defending it. In his second stint as IBF light flyweight champion, he quit to go after the IBF flyweight belt, which he won, and quit to go for the bantamweight title, which he won.
