FOUR MEXICANS AMONG THE BEST OF THE WBC

Four Mexicans were included in the list of winners within the list that the World Boxing Council awarded to the best of the year 2020.

Saúl Canelo Álvarez received, along with Englishman Tyson Fury, the nomination for Boxer of the Year; In addition, Isaac Cruz shared the nomination as the revelation of the year along with the Puerto Rican Edgar Berlanga.a.

While the Revelation of the Year went to Yulihan Cobrita Luna, for her resounding victory over Mariana Juárez, from whom she snatched the WBC bantamweight sash.C.

Another who shared honors was Eddy Reynoso, who along with Derrick James, was nominated for Coach of the Year.

The Knockout of the Year nomination went to Russian Alexander Povetkin, who on August 22 knocked out Englishman Dillian Whyte with a powerful uppercut to snatch the interim WBC heavyweight title.

In the women, the designation went to Christina Hammer, who knocked out Sanna Turunen in spectacular seven rounds on December 20 in Germany.

Errol Spence Jr., world welterweight champion, earned Comeback of the Year recognition; while José Chon Zepeda, who impressively knocked out Ivan Baranchyk in five rounds last October, won the Most Dramatic Fight of the Year designation.o.

The Fight of the Year was that of Deontay Wilder against Tyson Fury 2; the Performance of the Year went to Teéfimo López against Vasiliy Lomachenko; the mention of Prospect of the Year was shared by Sebastian Fundora and Gabriel Flores Jr.

As for the female nominations, the Fight of the Year starred Katie Taylor and Delfine Persoon, in their second confrontation. Dramatic Fight of the Year was the one between Savannah Marshall and Hannah Rankin; the Performance of the Year was Jessica McCaskill against Cecilia Braekhus.

The Comeback of the Year went to Marlen Esparza; the Boxer of the Year was assigned to Katie Taylor and the Prospect of the Year to Kim Clavel.
