Before the existence of boxing regulatory bodies, Raúl Macías won the bantamweight world championship of the National Boxing Association, a body governed by Americans. That title was obtained on March 9, 1955, in San Francisco, California, by defeating Cameron Songkitrat by technical knockout in 11 rounds.
