At the age of 20, on November 22, 1986, in Las Vegas, he defeated Trevor Berbick by technical knockout in two rounds and obtained the full WBC belt. In his first defense, on March 7, 1987 in Las Vegas, he unified with WBA champion James Smith and defeated him by unanimous decision. In his third defense of the WBC and second WBA title, on August 1, 1987 in Las Vegas, he unified with IBF champion Tony Tucker and defeated him by unanimous decision to become the undefeated three-time heavyweight world champion. On March 16, 1996, in Las Vegas, he defeated Frank Bruno by technical knockout in three rounds and became the WBC heavyweight champion again. In addition, on September 7, 1996, in Las Vegas, he knocked out Bruce Sheldon in one round and won the WBA belt.
Lost His Title
In a battle full of controversy, on February 11, 1990 in Tokyo, the unknown James Buster Douglas knocked him out in ten rounds and took his three belts: WBC, WBA and IBF. The WBA title was lost in his first defense on November 9, 1996, when he fell by technical knockout in 11 rounds with Evander Holyfield.ld

In 1992 Mike Tyson was sent to prison after being found guilty of the rape charge against the contestant in Miss Black America, Desiree Washington. On March 26, he was sentenced to 10 years, 6 in prison and 4 on probation. He was released in March 1995, having served a three-year sentence behind bars, returning to the ring that same year. He won the world title again, but lost it to Evander Holyfield. In 1997, in the rematch against Holyfield, he was disqualified for biting Evander's right ear. In 2003 Tyson filed for bankruptcy after earning around $300 million in his career.
