Won The World Title
On March 24, 1980, in Tokyo, he defeated Japanese Shigeo Nakajima by points and won the World Boxing Council light flyweight championship. He returned to being WBC light flyweight champion by defeating Japanese Tadashi Tomori by decision on July 20, 1982, in Ishikawa, Japan. On October 5, 1985, in Panama, he became flyweight champion of the World Boxing Association, defeating Alonso González by unanimous decision.

Lost His Title
In the eighth defense against the Mexican Amado"Panterita"Ursúa on February 6, 1982, in Panama, when he fell by knockout in two rounds. His second reign lasted just three defenses, as he lost it at the hands of Jung-Koo Chang on March 26, 1983, in Daejon, when he fell by technical knockout in three rounds. He lost the WBA flyweight title in his sixth defense on February 13, 1987, in Barranquilla, Colombia, Fidel Bassa won a unanimous decision in 15 rounds.

Withdrawal
On February 27, 1993, in Seoul, Sung-Kil Moon technically knocked him out in one round, when he disputed the WBC super flyweight title.
