On February 19, 1978, in Caracas, Venezuela, he technically knocked out Venezuelan Luis Estaba in 14 rounds and won the vacant WBC flyweight title. He became the WBC flyweight world champion again on July 7, 1982, when he beat Colombian Prudencio Cardona by points, in Mérida

Lost His Title
In his first defense on March 1, 1978, in Bangkok, Thailand, he was outpointed by the local Netrnoi Sor. In his second stage as champion, he lost the belt again in his first defense against Eleoncio Mercedes, by points, at the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.

Withdrawal
On February 22, 1986, when he went to Kuwait to dispute the world belt against Sot Chitalada, who defeated him by unanimous decision
